    MCDONOUGH PALLET RACK

Pallet Racks in College Park, GA

College Park pallet rack planning divides between cold-chain reserve and shallow airport-area warehouses.

    The College Park warehouse setting

Hartsfield-Jackson’s South Cargo area on Sullivan Road is a distinct freight setting, while Welcome All Road and Derrick Road contain a dense cold-storage cluster. These operations need different pallet access and storage depth even when they share the airport market.

McDonough Pallet Rack serves College Park about twenty-seven miles from McDonough. We plan new drive-in, pushback and selective systems from temperature, stock rotation, bay depth and truck reach. A low-clearance air-freight warehouse should not inherit the beam schedule of a taller grocery distribution building.

Freezer, cooler and dry stock on separate schedules

The local cold-storage cluster includes a former grocery DC with freezer, cooler and dry areas at 30 ft clear and active rail. Those zones can hold different pallet families and rotation requirements. Drive-in lanes suit repeated quantities of similar stock when the access rule is acceptable. Pushback adds deep storage from one loading aisle but uses last-in, first-out access within each lane, making stock assignment a central decision.

Provide each room’s operating temperature, pallet underside and range of loaded weights. Cold-rated equipment selections and installation coordination should follow those conditions, not a general claim that a rack is suitable for every freezer. Separate zone drawings can keep dry-stock beams and cold-room lane details from being treated as interchangeable. If the inventory needs first-in, first-out access, compare pallet flow with a defined load side and pick side.

Air-cargo routes and rail-fed grocery movement

The airport has sought a modern air-cargo terminal at its South Cargo area on Sullivan Road. That freight context does not establish the operating pattern of a particular tenant. Ask where incoming pallets are checked and where they wait for dispatch. Short-stay air freight may need more transfer space and fewer reserve positions than a cold-storage operation holding repeated grocery pallets.

Active rail in the cold-storage stock creates a different receiving path from truck doors facing an airport-area dispatch route. Show those access points on the same drawing as the storage lanes. When stock moves between freezer, cooler and dry areas, the transfer path must remain identifiable. A denser block should not consume the staging area needed to keep the temperature-zone replenishment process working.

Short-span selective rack in shallow airport stock

An office-warehouse building on Clark Howell Highway from the 1980s has 18 ft clear height. Sullivan Road also includes rail-served space at 16–24 ft clear with I-285 frontage. These examples show why bay depth and load height deserve close attention. Shorter selective runs can preserve door approaches and loaded turns while giving air-freight or service inventory individual access.

Measure both the occupied suite and the pallet envelope. A shallow warehouse can lose working room when a rack row projects too far into a cross-aisle, even if the straight aisle looks acceptable. Beam spans should suit the pallet family and supported load rather than simply following the longest wall. Industrial shelving for smaller cartons or parts can sit alongside pallet positions without forcing every item into full-depth reserve storage.

A College Park move begins with the destination bay

Before rack teardown at a departing warehouse, compare the destination’s clear height and shallow-bay dimensions with the current arrangement. A move from 30 ft cold storage to low airport stock can change beam levels and row lengths substantially. Identify which transferred components fit the new plan and which positions need new material, with the supply scope kept distinct from inventory transfer.

Crew access inside cold rooms and material staging outside them need their own sequence. Georgia heat and summer storms influence unloading around the dry-warehouse work areas, while room operating temperatures govern cold-zone coordination. Send room drawings, pallet dimensions, stock rotation and truck details for a warehouse consultation. McDonough Pallet Rack can prepare a layout and itemized quote suited to College Park’s cold-chain lanes or lower-clearance airport bays, rather than forcing one approach across both.

Storage systems for the working load

Compare pallet rack, pushback rack, pallet flow rack, drive-in rack, cantilever rack, carton flow rack by pallet access, stock rotation and the dimensions of the handled item. For a move into College Park, our warehouse relocation service starts with the destination layout.
