    MCDONOUGH PALLET RACK

    Cantilever Rack in McDonough, GA

Cantilever rack serves lumber, pipe and building materials that do not fit naturally between selective pallet-rack uprights. General wholesale and building-product demand around McDonough’s Westridge Parkway, King Mill Road and the GA-16 corridor toward Griffin makes long-load support a separate storage discussion.

A rack plan around the handled load

Arms extend from columns to create an open storage face. Material length, bundle weight and required support points determine the arrangement. McDonough Pallet Rack plans new cantilever systems by the handled load and access route, not by treating long material as an oversized standard pallet.

Arm spacing follows the material, not a standard bay

Provide minimum and maximum lengths, bundle weights and the material’s support requirements. A bundle spanning several arms needs a defined support pattern; the rating of one arm does not establish the capacity of every possible placement. The arm and column schedule should show what each material family can use.

Separate pipe, lumber and boxed building products where their support and handling differ. Palletized stock can stay in selective bays nearby, while cantilever holds the long loads. A shared layout does not mean shared capacity or support assumptions. Keep the intended bundle arrangement visible on the drawing so storage choices follow the specified load schedule.

Long-load turns need a full handling path

Measure the largest handled bundle and compare its movement with the forklift or other equipment used to carry it. Long material may require a different turn from a standard pallet even when it weighs less. Draw the receiving-to-storage path and the retrieval route before locating the cantilever rows.

At King Mill Road, the Westridge Parkway area or a manufacturing warehouse toward Griffin, identify the actual door and working zone used for material receiving. Savannah-fed building-material imports add another inbound handling step. These are market examples, not completed customer projects; each tenant’s drawing should establish its own access.

Indoor and outdoor storage need a defined scope

Specify whether the rack will serve an indoor warehouse or an outdoor long-goods area, together with the handled material and equipment. Georgia’s long, hot and humid summers and spring-to-summer thunderstorms matter for unloading and installation coordination. The storage setting should be part of the supply discussion without inventing building-condition requirements.

Older roughly 24 ft clear Westridge stock and newer 32–40 ft distribution buildings offer different vertical space, but long-load access remains central in either. Arm elevations should follow material size, handling clearance and reach. A tall building does not justify a taller cantilever arrangement if the equipment cannot safely place the specified bundle at that level.

Coordinate raw-material storage with warehouse relocation

For a move, settle the new support pattern and long-load route before teardown at the old site. Label transferred components, identify new material needs and separate long-goods transfer from standard pallet inventory. The destination may need different row spacing even when the stored bundles remain unchanged.

Installation staging should stay outside the long-load path. Agree on a material door, working zones and the order in which completed rows receive stock, including summer crew coordination and storm-season unloading. Send material lengths, weights, support requirements and an annotated building or yard drawing for a warehouse consultation and itemized rack supply and installation quote.
